Hebrew ad for graduate students (PDF) is here.

English version of the above Hebrew ad:

Research team headed by Prof. Rennan Barkana is looking for graduate students, for theoretical research projects on the history of the Universe (Cosmology)

As part of international collaborations (Harvard, China, and international observational teams), we are studying the formation of the first stars in the Universe using radio waves (21-cm Cosmology). We are building theoretical models and numerical simulations in order to make predictions for new observations.

In recent decades, the biggest discoveries in physics have come from astronomy (dark matter, dark energy, gravitational waves, and black holes). We are about to publish a very exciting discovery.

Students who will join the team are guaranteed excellent funding throughout their studies.

Postdoctoral fellowships in cosmology are available for working with Prof. Rennan Barkana (starting date and length of position are flexible). Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in astronomy or physics by the date of appointment. There are no restrictions on citizenship.

The following areas of research are preferred: Formation of the first stars and quasars, reionization and 21-cm cosmology, galaxy formation, large-scale structure, and gravitational lensing. Projects are available involving theoretical study as well as development and modeling of numerical simulation results and observational data.

An application should include a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, a brief statement of current and future research, and at least three letters of recommendation (which may be sent in directly). The material should be sent by e-mail. Email inquiries are welcome (barkana@wise.tau.ac.il).
